Dragon truffles

Dragon truffles are two fresh magic truffle products sold by the Dutch smartshop Dutch-Smart: Dragon's Dynamite and Dutch Dragons, each in a 15 gram pack. Like all magic truffles they are sclerotia, the compact underground food stores of a psilocybin fungus, and their effect comes from psilocybin. Five things to know first

• The strength rating comes from the shop, not from a lab. Dutch-Smart calls Dragon's Dynamite medium-strong and Dutch Dragons very potent, and in another place puts both in the same mid-range category. No published measurement exists for either. How to read the rating.
• Start with a third to half of a pack. The shop advises half to three quarters of a pack for a first time with Dragon's Dynamite. A lower start costs you little and leaves room to learn the strain. Dosage.
• Nothing extra on the same day. Effects can take up to 90 minutes to arrive, and a second portion taken too early is how many people end up with far more than they planned. Taking too much raises the chance of a bad trip.
• Some combinations are dangerous. Lithium and MAO inhibitors top the list. Safety.
• Fresh truffles are legal in the Netherlands, almost nowhere else. Dried truffles are a grey area even there. Legal status.
